Cape Town Pride honours its 2026 Pride Heroes

Cape Town Pride has recognised its 2026 Pride Heroes, honouring individuals and organisations whose work spans LGBTQIA+ healthcare, HIV advocacy, refugee and migrant support, faith, township Pride and human rights. More than 30 nominations were received. Honourees included The Pink Light Movement, Igshaan Waleed de Vries, Nyasha “Masi” Zhakata, Langa LGBTQI+ Pride, Trans Guardians Alliance, Impulse Group Cape Town and others. Reverend Sharon Cox received the Lifetime Achievement Award for more than two decades of LGBTQIA+ human-rights advocacy in the Western Cape. The awards put the focus on the community work that continues beyond Pride celebrations — from healthcare and emergency support to visibility, dignity and belonging.
