Johannesburg Pride 2026

Johannesburg Pride returns on 31 October 2026, with the official Pride of Africa programme placing the celebration on Katherine Street in Sandton CBD. Johannesburg Pride traces its roots to the city’s historic 1990 Pride march and has grown into one of Africa’s best-known LGBTQ+ Pride events. The official 2026 Pride of Africa calendar now confirms a full October build-up: Pride of Africa Month Kick-Off Drag Brunch on 3 October, SCRT Venue ft Jägermeister on 10 October, the emPOWERment Summit on 16 October, Queer Met on 24 October, and Johannesburg Pride Parade & Festival on 31 October. Some individual event venues, times and access details are still being released, so the dates are useful for planning while the live Infogaytion event listings remain the place to check confirmed practical details. Johannesburg Pride is only one part of the city’s queer calendar. Soweto Pride, initiated by the Forum for the Empowerment of Women in 2004, has a distinct history as a Black queer visibility, protest and community-space project. Visitors should not assume that every event using the Soweto Pride name is part of FEW’s official programme; independent Pride-linked parties are listed separately when they can be verified.
